Need thoughts? This bothers me…

NOT:E just read the top and final paragraphs if this is a tl;dr

Okay, so… there’s a blog out there called “did you know?”

And this blog posts pictures that contain “facts” many people wouldn’t know. Oftentimes there is a source, and the facts are interesting.

BUT… In recent days, they have started posting bullshit statistics and facts that are just completely wrong. For example:

(Hope you can read those…) So, these two are easily seen as bullshit. For one, there is no source on the left post, and the right one has a source as a book published in 2000. I can only assume it was a quote, and not a researched fact, however, because it’s obviously untrue.

Easy enough to see: the word “people” in this article is very very wrong. That’s generalizing it to every person who is a part of “people,” i.e. the entire world. A good percentage of the world doesn’t HAVE television or text capabilities: all the 3rd-world countries, and all the poverty in 1st-world countries backs that up. Then, you have to consider what 99% might mean. Let’s take Americans: 99% of Americans means 310,000,000 of 313,000,000 people. (95%=300,000,000). I HIGHLY doubt that the majority is that large. I know I for one don’t give a damn what volume the TV is on. But can the number REALLY be that large?

These are very obvious generalizations. But yet, people are viewing these as fact. Each picture has over 5,000 reblogs, so these false facts DO spread. Consider another case, or skip down to the last paragraph if you don’t want to read:

Okay, this one DID have a source…. TO WIKIPEDIA. So there’s a flaw already. But it was there, quoted and everything. I back traced the quote though… to a quote from Cybill Shepherd in a Interview in 2000, 23 years after Elvis’s death.

So, the major issue I have with this is that it’s taking one person’s word for it on something an already dead man said, and then USING that word to go farther and say “Elvis refused to go down on his girlfriends.” What if he lied? What if he just didn’t want to go down on HER? What if SHE lied, and she never got that far with him? What if what if what if… None of these are answered and each blows a hole in the fact that is presented above.

So, I think I have proven that much of what this blog says is fabricated. A lot of it is worded JUST so teenagers believe it. I was considering starting a blog to call out the fact that much of this is bull. I’d set it up just like theirs, and just blog the questionable parts of what they say, and my proof as to why it isn’t real. Maybe get a little more real knowledge out there, instead of spreading things people only think they like to hear. Thoughts?
